Get on the naughty list at these holiday pop-up bars

When it comes to the holidays, some people can’t wait to get into the spirit of the season with presents and family time. But for those more inclined to be on the naughty list, the spirit of the season means something different as they prefer to get some jolly drinks.

So for people who would rather party with Santa instead of just leaving him some milk and cookies on Christmas Eve, here are a few holiday-themed pop-up bars in the area.

Emo XMAS

When: Through Dec. 28

Where: 6423 Yucca St., Los Angeles

Information: bucketlisters.com

Even if you’re perpetually sad, you still want to get into the holiday spirit — even if it’s a dark lonely suffering spirit. So for all the emos out there there’s Emo Xmas. This pop-up bar switches up the happy jingles for sad songs and even sadder sounding, yet still tasty, cocktails. Expect drinks like the I’m Not Okay vodka and lemonade mix, or the mango-infused I Don’t Want to Blue in Love. There will also be DJs, trivia and karaoke. There’s no word on whether Santa is going to show up in all black instead of his usual jolly red outfit.

Frosty’s Christmas Bar

When: Through Dec. 30

Where: 6555 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles,

Information: frostyschristmas.bar/los-angeles

Frosty is ready to party again as the loveable snowman returns to town with an over-the-top holiday bar. Holiday partiers can expect twinkling lights everywhere, snow flakes falling, huge ornaments and holiday-themed drinks and characters like elves, the Grinch, and of course Santa himself letting his beard down and partying wit the naughty crowd.

Gingerbread Lounge

When: Through Jan. 2

Where: Terranea Resort, 100 Terranea Way, Rancho Palos Verdes

Information: www.terranea.com/

A massive 7-by-7-foot gingerbread display, adorned with gumdrops, candy canes and royal icing with a functional bar and a gingerbread village is the centerpiece of this pop-up lounge at Terranea Resort. The display was crafted from more than 1,000 pounds of house-made gingerbread. And this lounge isn’t just a about the display since it’s also serving holiday cocktails like the Fireside Cocoa made with Tanteo “Navidad” Tequila and house-made hot cocoa, plus the Sleigh Ride, which mixes Mount Gay Eclipse Rum with house-made apple cider and the Clausmopolitan made with Ketel One Vodka, cranberry and vanilla bean puree and lime juice served with a frosted sugar rim. For those driving the sleigh home there are nonalcoholic drinks that include the Christmas Cocoa, Baked Apple Cider, and Jingle Juice.

Mariah Carey’s Holiday Bar

When: Through Dec. 28

Where: 8440 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood

If all you want for Christmas is Mariah, then this is the place for you. The Queen of Christmas is putting more jolly spirits into happy hour with the Los Angeles debut of her holiday pop-up bar. And it’s pretty clear that this place is going to be wall-to-wall Mariah with decorations and photo-ops that are all about the pop-star. Yeah, sit down Santa, this is Mariah’s world and people will be able to take pictures alongside album backdrop decorations. Revelers can also write letters to Mariah and, buy her merch, such as vinyl records. And yes, her iconic hit “All I want for Christmas is You,” will be played every 30 minutes.

This seasonal bar is a worldwide experience with pop-up bars all over the globe, which probably makes Santa happy since he can hop off the sled for a drink throughout his route. Holiday partiers can expect to feel like they’re at a North Pole after-hours party with wall-to-wall holiday decorations and bartenders dressed up like elves serving cocktails such as the Christmapolitan, the Snowball Old-Fashioned and new this year are Candy Cane Lane, Dancing Sugarplums, Blitzen Barrel, and Miracle Mouse drinks. Looks like Santa may have to put himself on the naughty list if he makes too many pitstops at Miracle.
